International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental international organisation with a membership of 170 national standards bodies.
Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
As of February 2023, ISO has developed over 24,676 standards, covering everything from manufactured products and technology to food safety, agriculture, and healthcare.
Importance to the Egg Industry

ISO’s standards provide a platform for developing practical tools through common understanding and cooperation with all stakeholders on board – from agricultural producers, to food manufacturers, laboratories, regulators, consumers, etc. Around 1,000 ISO Standards are specifically dedicated to food, and deal with subjects as diverse as agricultural machinery, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, labelling, packaging and storage.
