Australia
Australian Eggs geared up for World Egg Day with an abundance of activities and campaigns, starting with their own theme ‘Eggs Throughout the Ages’, which celebrated the evolution of egg dishes through generations. Their celebrations featured a nostalgic video where team members shared personal memories tied to iconic egg recipes, alongside a staff lunch that showcased diverse egg dishes. Social media buzzed with a consumption stats teaser video and influencer posts recreating childhood favourites. Partnering with Australian Women’s Weekly, a campaign included recipe features across print and digital platforms. PR efforts unveiled new recipes and survey insights, complemented by radio interviews and targeted emails to consumers. Healthcare and farmer outreach integrated World Egg Day across specialised programs, ensuring widespread engagement and celebration of egg excellence.
Egg Farmers of Australia celebrated World Egg Day 2024 with a special update to Federal MPs and State Agriculture Ministers on the egg industry’s progress. MPs were provided with materials to share on social media or include in parliamentary speeches. They also held a small World Egg Day event for the first time at Parliament House in Canberra.
Belize
The Belize Poultry Association in partnership with Country Foods (a local egg distributor) and the Belize Agricultural Health Authority, visited the San Antonio RC School in the Cayo District to deliver a hearty egg breakfast. The children enjoyed a burrito made of eggs, ham, beans and cheese, paired with an apple juice. Following the breakfast the students from the upper division were given a short lesson on food safety and the benefits of the incredible egg.
Brazil
For World Egg Day 2024, the Gaúcha Poultry Association (ASGAV) in Brazil sent egg-based meals to children as part of a social project and distributed promotional materials to egg producers and the public. They also placed adverts in major newspapers and air radio commercials to encourage egg consumption, reaching thousands. On social media, ASGAV shared World Egg Day content through the Ovos RS programme.
Canada
BC Egg ran a series of paid adverts and a nutrition-focused campaign across its social media platforms for World Egg Day. Additionally, a news release was issued on 10 October, to further highlight the celebration.
To celebrate World Egg Day, Egg Farmers of Canada launched a national PR campaign highlighting the work of Canada’s 1,200 egg farmers and farm families, who provide fresh, local, and high-quality eggs year-round. As part of the campaign, Canadians were invited to play the newest version of Earthwise Egg Quest: Canadian Egg Farming Trivia Challenge. Politicians across the country also used their social platforms to honour the vital role of egg farmers in Canadian communities.
Manitoba Egg Farmers once again celebrated World Egg Day at the University of Manitoba on 11 October. From 10am to 2pm, they gave out free mini quiches at the University Centre, engaging with students, faculty, and passersby about the benefits of eggs. Local egg farmers and staff distributed egg-themed promotional products and recipes, and shared insights about egg farming. This event, a success last year too, aimed to highlight the nutrition, versatility, and importance of eggs to Manitobans.
China
In China, Lyja Media marked World Egg Day by a month-long celebration featuring themed events such as Culture Day, Science Day, Safety Day, Consumption Day, and International Day. On the day, the organisers connected with egg associations from different countries through video calls to exchange ideas and learn about global activities. Most of the events took place at the newly established Egg World Science Museum in Shanghai, which opened in January 2024.
Colombia
For World Egg Day, Fenavi emphasised the nutritional value of eggs by donating one million eggs to families with malnourished children through ABACO (food banks). The campaign encouraged public contributions via a dedicated landing page, that aimed to extend this vital food to more people. Fenavi promoted the initiative through TV, radio, social media, and their website. On 11 October, they hosted simultaneous breakfasts and a PR promotion in six Colombian cities, while influencers in family, agriculture, nutrition, and economics amplified the campaign’s message across various platforms.
France
For World Egg Day 2024, Fans d’oeufs launched several initiatives in France. Starting on 1 October, fans could join the “Egg Shock” online game on Facebook and Instagram, where they competed by choosing between hard-boiled or fried eggs in a puzzle game, with prizes that included a PS5. On World Egg Day itself, 10 school classes participated in egg-related culinary workshops led by chefs to teach children about nutrition and eggs. Additionally, Fans d’oeufs partnered with Euro-Toques Jeunes to host masterclasses for future chefs, highlighting eggs’ versatility in balanced recipes. These events celebrated eggs while educating both children and culinary students.
Honduras
PROAVIH celebrated World Egg Day with a series of community-focused activities. In San Pedro Sula, they hosted an egg-based breakfast at the city’s nursing home which was attended by the municipal mayor. Meanwhile, in Tegucigalpa, school children learned about the benefits of eggs through educational talks, while their mothers participated in a Spanish omelette cookery class. The celebration continued with games and egg-shaped piñatas. A local morning TV programme dedicated its entire show to eggs, featuring a nutritionist discussing health benefits and myths, and a cooking segment with egg recipes. Later, a cooking show and tastings were held at a major supermarket, with influencers participating and donations being made to the Honduras food bank.
Hungary
Since April 2023, the #hashtEGG adventure playpark in Siófok, Hungary, has been welcoming visitors, primarily targeting preschool and elementary school groups, as well as families with young children. The aim is to promote egg consumption and raise awareness of eggs’ nutritional value and versatility in various fields. A standout programme, the ‘Super Egg Course’, offers tailored experiences for participants, including preschoolers, primary school students, and children with developmental disorders. To date, nearly 4,000 children have participated, many discovering eggs for the first time through programmes like #hashtEGG. The playpark also runs the #hashtEGG Roadshow, promoting egg consumption at events, and hosts ‘Baby Mornings’ twice a week, introducing toddlers to eggs through play and education.
India
Samagra Charitable Society celebrated World Egg Day in a different part of India, at their office in Thekumoodu Junction, Thiruvananthapuram. They dispensed egg kits, the President of Samagra delivered a speech on the significance of World Egg Day and 5,000 eggs were distributed to the public to raise awareness about egg production. This marked the 10th consecutive year of World Egg Day celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India, farmers came together to celebrate World Egg Day by distributing boiled eggs to school children, hospital patients, and residents in orphanages. The celebration aimed to promote the theme “United by Eggs” while highlighting the nutritional value of eggs and their affordability. Dr. Somi Reddy spearheaded the initiative, ensuring that eggs were made accessible across the state, emphasising their importance as a nutritious food for all.
Indonesia
World Egg Day 2024 in Indonesia was celebrated in Surakarta, Central Java, and earned recognition from the Indonesian Record Museum. Organised by the Indonesian Poultry Association alongside Infovet Magazine and Surakarta State University, and supported by government and industry stakeholders, the event featured numerous activities from September through October. Highlights included student cooking competitions, educational seminars, an egg bazaar, and a press conference. At the main event on 13 October, about 2,500 participants, including officials and students, gathered to campaign for egg nutrition, enjoy music, and set a record with 2,300 students eating eggs simultaneously. The celebration received widespread national media coverage.
Ireland
The Irish Egg Association, in partnership with Bord Bia, celebrated World Egg Day 2024 by showcasing Olympians Sophie Becker and Philip Doyle in videos highlighting the role of eggs in their training. Junior athletes joined them in fun activities like an egg-and-spoon race and cooking egg dishes. A social media campaign shared videos, promoting egg nutrition. The association also focused on local egg producers, featuring Ray Gannon, DJ Kelleher, and Rachel Johnson to emphasise sustainability and heritage in three areas of Ireland. Local media, along with TV and radio ads, further supported the campaign, targeting shoppers to buy eggs.
Italy
In Turin, Italy, the La Lacanda delle iDEE APS association honoured the egg as a symbol of unity, in line with the 2024 theme. They celebrated with a guided walk through the streets of Turin where attendees learned about egg production and the benefits of eggs. Participants created poetry, short stories, drawings, and haikus, which were compiled into a book and published on the association’s website. The event concluded with an aperitif featuring various egg dishes.
Kenya
Heifer Kenya, through the Kenya Livestock Marketing and Resilience Project (KLMP), participated in World Egg Day celebrations organised by the Kenya Pigs and Poultry Veterinary Association. The event brought together over 1,000 farmers and 100 professionals, including veterinarians and poultry experts, under the theme “Egg Production and Consumption for a Healthy and Sustainable Future.” KLMP aligned with the event’s goals by promoting egg consumption, supporting sustainable agriculture, and strengthening poultry production.
Latvia
For World Egg Day, Balticovo launched a charity challenge, that invited people to share video ideas on how to boil, peel, and use boiled eggs in cooking. For every video submitted, Balticovo donated 100 eggs to a charity supporting socially vulnerable people. Additionally, they created a video featuring local celebrities and influencers passing eggs to each other between frames to promote this year’s theme: “United by Eggs.”
Macedonia
The Macedonia branch of the World Poultry Science Association celebrated World Egg Day 2024 with a social media awareness campaign highlighting the nutritional benefits of eggs. A giveaway invited followers to share their favourite healthy egg recipes, and the three best recipes were announced. Additionally, member poultry farms promoted their products and provided insights into egg production.
Mauritius
Oeudor marked World Egg Day with a breakfast at their Head Office and made donations of eggs to local NGOs as part of their efforts.
Mexico
Additionally, on 4 October, the National Institute of Nutrition and Medical Sciences Salvador Zubirán held a seminar on “Egg Consumption as Part of a Healthy and Sustainable Diet,” organised by Silvia Carrillo of the National Poultry Institute (INA). On 4-11 October, INA delivered presentations at universities across Monterrey, Tehuacán, and Mérida, highlighting the health benefits of eggs. UNA, Sí Huevo, and INA shared content on social media to further promote the event.
The Unión Nacional de Avicultores (UNA), in Mexico held their annual ‘International Egg Fair’. This year, the event had an egg-themed costume parade, held and won a Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Egg and Spoon Race’, egg-dish samples, cultural contests, academic talks with international speakers and many other activities.
Netherlands
The Poultry Expertise Centre in the Netherlands hosted a two-day celebration, as World Egg Day coincides with Dutch Food Week. On 11 October at the Poultry Museum in Barneveld, the Gelderland deputy gave a speech about the importance of food production; an artistic egg was unveiled as the winner of a previous competition; and attendees enjoyed a 4-course egg-based lunch. On 12 October, over 30 poultry farmers opened their farms to the public, supported by the centre with materials and guidance for organising open days.
New Zealand
For World Egg Day, NZ Eggs gave one lucky egg enthusiast the chance to win a fantastic egg recipe book. They ran their own campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, and egg producers were encouraged to share the competition link on their own social media platforms to help promote the draw and World Egg Day 2024.
Nigeria
AIT Integrated Farms, an egg producer in Northeast Nigeria, once again celebrated World Egg Day by distributing over 3,000 boiled eggs to primary school children who lack access to eggs in their daily diet. For the past three years, the farm has used this occasion to raise awareness about the role of eggs in promoting healthy child development, highlighting their essential nutrients for brain growth and overall health. This initiative reflects the farm’s commitment to providing affordable nutrition to the local population and educating communities about the importance of eggs in diets for all ages.
Pakistan
The Department of Poultry Production, University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) in Lahore also celebrated World Egg Day 2024 in collaboration with the Pakistan Poultry Association. Their event included an egg benefits awareness walk, lectures on egg benefits, egg eating, and egg-based dishes cooking competitions among school and college students. Differently abled children of a local school also presented comedic sketches about egg benefits.
A representative from the Livestock and Fisheries Department Government visited a local primary school for World Egg Day to educate students on the history and significance of the day, the nutritional benefits of eggs, and their importance for a healthy lifestyle. The event featured a quiz session to engage the students, followed by the distribution of eggs. This initiative aimed to promote nutrition and health awareness among future generations, encouraging the incorporation of eggs into daily diets for a healthier lifestyle.
Noor Poultry, in collaboration with MENU and the Pakistan Poultry Association, celebrated World Egg Day at Superior University, Lahore. The event included a poster competition for Fine Arts students, a cooking competition for Culinary Arts students, and a quiz competition for Poultry and Biological Sciences students. Additionally, the celebration featured a World Egg Day talk and an awareness walk, that continued Noor Poultry’s tradition of engaging students in educational and creative activities to promote the importance of eggs.
Panama
This World Egg Day, ANAVIP hosted a special celebration at a school canteen in the Kuna Nega, a disadvantaged suburban area. 150 nutritious lunches were prepared for children from the neighbourhood, with fictional character, ‘Super Egg’ making a special appearance! In addition, they shared educational resources from the IEC across social media platforms, spreading the message about the incredible benefits of eggs.
Philippines
The Batangas Egg Producers Multipurpose Cooperative, also known as BEPCO, celebrated the World Egg Day by launching a new episode of Bidang Egg Kids, teaching the younger generation to choose nutritious whole foods like eggs and to have a healthy lifestyle. The programme is part of the First Regional Livestock Biotechnology Symposium held at the ‘Egg Basket of the Philippines’ – San Jose, Batangas.
Poland
To celebrate World Egg Day, Fermy Woźniak in Poland launched a comprehensive campaign. A news release was sent to Polish media outlets, with support from poultry and egg organisations, and a statement was secured from the Polish Minister of Agriculture. In partnership with top media outlets, Fermy Woźniak developed an engaging egg knowledge quiz, which was promoted on World Egg Day and extensive content shared on their website and social media. Additionally, each of the 1,800 employees received reusable canvas bags filled with special gifts…including eggs!
Also in Poland, Suflidowo celebrated World Egg Day with a team brunch featuring a variety of egg dishes, in line with this year’s theme of unity. The event was an opportunity to reflect on tradition, encouraging conversation and fun among participants.
South Africa
To celebrate World Egg Day 2024, SAPA planned a series of exciting activities. On 11 October, popular breakfast TV programme, Expresso Morning Show, presenters created an egg recipe linked to the ‘United by Eggs’ theme, reaching 800,000+ viewers. Top influencers Zola Nene and Sifo the Cooking Husband shared mouth-watering egg recipes with their 1.2 million combined followers. SAPA’s press release, including a delicious ‘Make-Ahead Ham & Egg Sandwich Bake’, was shared across media, while a double-page spread in ‘Heita My Friends’ reached 40,000 Gauteng taxi commuters. Eggsellent By Lebo hosted a live cooking demo, and SAPA engaged dietitians and promoted a fun competition on their social media.
Spain
In celebration of World Egg Day 2024, Inprovo launched an engaging online game available in Spanish, French, and Hungarian. Participants were invited to test their knowledge of egg production with true or false questions, competing for leaderboard ranks and the opportunity to win exciting prizes, including a year’s supply of eggs. The game was promoted through a variety of influencers and supported by offline and digital marketing campaigns.
Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka, Ruhunu Farms’ World Egg Day celebrations included hosting a cooking competition and organising an egg donation programme to support the nutritional needs of pregnant mothers.
The Society of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, and the Sri Lanka Association of Animal Production hosted a World Egg Day event on 11 October 2024 at the Department of Animal Science. The event featured cooking demonstrations of non-conventional egg dishes, educational activities, and photography and videography competitions to highlight the nutritional value of eggs. Expert talks included presentations on egg nutrition and the challenges facing Sri Lanka’s egg industry. Around 400 participants, including students, academics, and stakeholders, attended and were served an egg-based breakfast.
Switzerland
On World Egg Day, VEV Vereinigung der Eivermarkter had a strong presence across Swiss media. Their branding featured on a local news site, a Swiss TV platform, and in public spaces such as public transport, post offices, and petrol stations. Additionally, adverts ran on YouTube and social media. At the OLMA Swiss trade fair, they distributed boiled eggs to draw attention to the celebration.
UAE
For World Egg Day, Al Jazira Poultry Farm LLC featured a print advertisement and editorial in a popular UAE newspaper. Additionally, they created social media content to celebrate on the day, using the hashtag #UnitedByEggs.
United Kingdom
The British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) celebrated British Egg Week and World Egg Day with a full schedule of engaging content on Instagram and TikTok, including daily stories, influencer collaborations, and new egg recipes. Media efforts were also used to inspire consumers to enjoy more eggs. Additionally, a cracking competition was launched, offering egg-themed prizes such as Le Creuset egg cups, egg mugs, and egg candles, that ran throughout the week to drive consumer participation.
USA
In the USA, Rose Acre Farms promoted World Egg Day by utilising the IEC resources. Internally, messages were shared with team members through virtual message boards, while externally, the farm spread awareness on social media, highlighting the global theme #UnitedByEggs and promoting the importance of eggs.
Versova and Center Fresh once again celebrated with their annual tradition of serving 900 free omelettes to the Sioux Center community.
Venezuela
Seijas Huevos celebrated World Egg Day by engaging with first-grade children from a local public school. The team provided Venezuelan scrambled eggs (“Perico Venezolano”), Venezuelan lemonade (“Papelón con limón”), and cake to celebrate the day. They also delivered a talk and donated eggs, giving each of the 35 children a dozen eggs.
Vietnam
Cargill celebrated with their ‘Green Egg Campaign’ 2024 in Vietnam on 7 October, highlighting the health benefits of eggs and their role in promoting a balanced diet. The event, held at Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School in Long An Province, engaged around 600 students through interactive activities, including a drawing contest, an egg-related quiz, and expert talks. A total of 4,800 eggs were distributed to schoolchildren and community members, along with donations of books and stationery. This initiative is inspired by World Egg Day and is part of Cargill’s commitment to enhance egg consumption and support sustainable agriculture. It has expanded since its inception in 2017, fostering community awareness and improving education infrastructure.
International
Domino celebrated by using their egg printing machines to engrave ‘Happy World Egg Day’ on eggs across the world in a variety of different languages.
Hy-Line created T-shirts for the children in South Africa whom they are providing with two eggs per day, showcasing their commitment to nutrition and support for undernourished communities.
