Global egg industry honours outstanding achievements

The International Egg Commission (IEC) recognised notable success and outstanding achievements across the global egg industry with the presentation of its prestigious awards at the recent IEC Global Leadership Conference Lake Louise 2023.
The awards, which included the presentation of the inaugural ‘Vision 365 Egg Innovation Award’, recognised individuals and organisations who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and contributions towards a thriving future for the egg industry.
IEC Chairman Greg Hinton said: “The IEC awards are always a highlight of the Global Leadership Conference, offering an opportunity for us to honour the passion, commitment and enthusiasm of brilliant individuals and organisations within our industry every year.”
Vision 365 Egg Innovation Award
Egglife Wraps, Rose Acre Farms, United States
“The new Vision 365 Egg Innovation award recognises organisations who push the boundaries to create innovative food products that add value to eggs and support increased egg consumption, and Egglife wraps optimises this,” explained IEC Vision 365 Chairman, Suresh Chitturi.
“They have taken an everyday staple product, the tortilla wrap, and created a simple, delicious, and nutritious alternative made of egg whites. They are a prime example of what can be achieved when we begin to think outside of the box to create added value meal opportunities with eggs, and I am delighted that we are able to recognise them for this achievement.”
Denis Wellstead Award for International Egg Person of the Year
Chitturi Jagapati Rao, India
“Mr Chitturi has contributed significantly to the development of the Indian poultry sector throughout his lifetime. He not only built his own business, Srinivasa Hatcheries Group, from the ground up, but he has also been instrumental in working closely with the governm ent to streamline processes for the industry, creating better employment opportunities and raising the calibre of poultry products in India,” said IEC Chairman, Greg Hinton.
“Mr Chitturi was one of the founders of the National Egg Coordination Committee in India, an association for producers which has been instrumental in supporting the industry to grow exponentially. Mr Chitturi’s contributions to the Indian layer industry have not only revolutionised the sector but also improved the lives of many people, so we are thrilled to honour him with this award.”
Clive Frampton Egg Products Company of the Year Award
Egg Solutions, a division of Global Egg Corporation, Canada
“This family-owned business started producing and supplying eggs in 1972. Since then they have developed into one of the largest suppliers to the food service market in their home nation of Canada. Focusing on innovation of egg products, Egg Solutions have created the widely recognized ‘HealthPlus’ brand, supplying healthy egg products predominantly produced from Egg white,” said Henrik Pedersen, IEC’s Egg Processors International (EPI) Chairman.
“They have excelled in producing high quality products. Their targeted and inspirational marketing, coupled with strong innovation and a focus on sustainability efforts has resulted in them supplying the major fast-food chains and institutional kitchens throughout Canada. For these reasons, I am very pleased to be awarding them the Clive Frampton Egg Products Company of the Year Award.”
Golden Egg Award for Marketing Excellence
Ganong Bio, South Korea
“I am delighted to be awarding the Golden Egg Award for Marketing Excellence to Ganong Bio from South Korea. Not only have they created a range of egg products to suit their consumer’s needs, they have developed a unique online direct-to-consumer sales platform ‘Eggshop’ which enables eggs to go from farm to table in just 11 hours, bringing consumers one step closer to producers,” said Andrew Joret, member of the judging panel.
“Ganong Bio are showcasing what can be achieved through effective technology and innovation, and we as an industry can learn so much from their unique approach. Their sales figures and subscription numbers speak for themselves, and I am excited to see what comes next for this market-leading organisation.”
